This is an interesting debate about Libya. Here are some other FACTS:
1. Germany was veeery early in BOTH world wars.
2. We essentially MADE the US a superpower that way, which is why they wouldn't have nuked Berlin.
3. There weren't many more Japs (Japse? Japses? - help me out here) in Berlin '45, so there was really no reason.Blah

Don't worry, I think our respective regimes will get the chance to rape Libya of its mineral resources very soon.Originally posted by SlowwHand View PostIs the U.N. going to kick in some funds to the U.S. and Great Britain for the cost, or is it expected that being the ones dirtying our hands is payment enough?Speaking of Erith:

As an Englishman, perhaps the worst line I have heard comes from the film "Pearl Harbor" (which was a terrible film for a start) where the bombing started, one of the guys asks the other what is going on, and the other replies "I think World War II has just started".Originally posted by Asher View PostThe Americans were way late in both world wars. Canada was there from the start, fighting the good fight.

Did you ever see the state of Berlin by the end of the war? Nuking it would've just rearranged the rubble.Originally posted by DinoDoc View PostHell if the European war had lasted longer we would have nuked Berlin. Most likely due to British begging: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1414878/MI6-urged-Churchill-to-nuke-Berlin.htmlSpeaking of Erith:

Asher, most Americans only know about history from what they get from Hollywood movies.Originally posted by Asher View Post
The US and Great Britain were the ones begging to be able to do it. Regardless, other countries are also assisting. Canada is sending F-18s, for instance.
It'd be pretty ****ing stupid for the US to beg to be able to do it, then ask for payment after.
Never ceases to amaze me that Americans think they're the only ones who do things.
The only current events that most of our youth understand, is if the power goes out to there video games.

I tend to agree with this. As much as I would like to see Gaddafi gone I firmly believe people must remove their own tyrants.Originally posted by Asher View PostI think neither are good, and I think unless there's genocide it's not our business.
It's the US that sent high ranking politicians to shake that *******'s hand, not Canada or me...
Let's not pretend our hands are clean in all this. Canada did its share in the "rehabilitation" of Gaddafi. We didn't free a mass murderer like the Brits but like others we wanted the oil rights. Predictably, Petrocan was our major interest.

That's why I think the Japanese are being a bit tardy about repairing Fukushima: The prevailing wind conditions should take the radiation over the US...Originally posted by Asher View PostNot to mention the US cheated by dropping nukes. They couldn't take the Japanese on man on man, so they resorted to exploits.
